We live in a very technological world. Computers, cell phones, gaming systems, digital video/music, and the list goes on. We’re quickly approaching virtual reality possibilities, and it’s only a matter of time before computer-science discovers the next break-through that will leap us even further ahead than we had previously perceived as possible. We live in exciting times. Almost akin to our explorers of old, but just in a different fashion.
Yet, for all the advantages technology has brought to the table, one must ask them self: do the pros outweigh the cons? And, there are other questions to consider: will it save us? Destroy us? Excel us? Replace us? The possibilities are quickly becoming endless with the rising number of advocates that want to usher in all this “neat stuff.” The potential benefits are already out-speaking the potential horrors.
I’ve loved computers since I first had the opportunity to play on one, which was back around 1994, and my life has been forever changed by that defining moment. I sometimes wonder what would of became of me, or where I would be today, if I hadn’t met my old best friend Dan. If he hadn’t shared his knowledge of computers with me, or loan me his laptop so I could sign-on to AOL 2.5 at home, and play around with DOS/Windows 3.11. Of course, computers back then were hardly affordable, but after by 2000 it was becoming mainstream and prices were falling fast. So, it was inevitable, one way or the other.
And so, not so long ago, a best friend shared what I’m about to share with you. Welcome to perhaps your first look at the future. An “I Robot,” or “Terminator,” like machine that will redefine everything we thought we knew about computer technology. Will it make us safer? Is it necessary? How will this change future wars fought, when you replace real lives with androids? What will become of us if it’s reprogrammed, hacked, or a virus changes it into a civilian killing machine? Too far fetched? Do you believe it’ll have sufficient safety features built into it’s code that will prevent it from such malicious behavior? Remember one thing: anything done by humankind, can be undone just the same.
I’d love to hear your comments, thoughts, and opinions on this one! So, please feel free to leave some after watching this video, and as always I appreciate your interest. Blessed be.
