Sounds to me like its a way to stop over population. You can have a monogamous love with no chance of offspring. Or if you decide children are a essential in your life your only option would be to adopt. Why not take care of a abandon child who has already been born into this world rather then create a new one. Population density is a major cause of most of the problems in the world. With technology advancing it helps to eliminate this problem. Sure you could argue new medical technology can allow us to live longer. But you have to understand with every medical advance so does bacteria, so do viruses. You get new evolved disease that enter into society to kill off the population back within its normal carrying capacity. H.I.V and A.I.Ds are a example of complex retro viruses that completely scrambles the DNA sequence of the infected. We have no cure and even with prevention measures it does not stop many from contracting it. Even a simple cell signaling error, like cancer, is becoming more common and the techniques for a cure are comparable to bloodletting in 370 B.C. All technological advances are doing are helping societies to reach their downfall faster so that the cycle can repeat. Many civilizations have fallen and new ones have come from them. What technology will do is end us and probably send us back to a hunter gathering stage. So you don't have to worry about social interaction becoming a option. If you think about it once society is reduced how well you will be able to socialize and organize yourself will dictate your chances of survival. What a pleasant thought that is.
