Still not convinced that we’re heading toward an “I, Robot,” type society? Sink your teeth into these links, and rethink our future.
These are all examples of what our future hold, and while they seem like a great idea, I can’t help but feel remorse and sorrow for our generations to come. Why? Because I foresee human interaction declining – it already has, and us becoming more alienated from ourselves than we ever considered possible. Think about it. If a man or woman can’t find a mate, then in the future it’ll be “acceptable” by that person because they can just go “buy” a robot one instead. Sure, it’ll never talk back, it’ll watch whatever movie you’d like, and no doubt it’ll have sexual capabilities (the technology for realistic flesh, eyes, hair, skin texture, and so forth already exists). So, the question becomes: why will anyone in the future even WANT to interact with other humans when their pets, friends, and partners can be a robot that won’t disappoint you, stop “loving” you, or lie or cheat on you? We’re heading into a future where social interaction is optional, not required, and I’m definitely NOT comfortable with that. Are you?
