The Ravishment Of Time

Days are given, and days go by.
Evenings spent dreaming, wishing upon the stars,
and asking our parents, “Why, why, why?!”

Time seems to move so slow when we are children,
and painfully fast as we grow older.
Youth spent playing with friends,
and learning the key lessons about life.
Then jobs and stress replace those things,
as we grow to be older.

Our bodies succumbed to the ravishings of Time,
traded in for wisdom and experience.
Memories recall the past
while the soul reflects on who it use to be.
We wish to be children again,
and as children wish to be older.

Before you know it, food no longer tastes the same
love is simply no longer important enough to worry about,
and we find ourselves wondering when Death will come to visit.
The hype of life spent, and no one remains from memory.
Left along with your thoughts, and out of pace with the times at hand.

And this is how many of the elders are treated today,
no respect given, no one stops to listen.
No wonder why so many find an early given grave.
